Founding ACES

Chasing their dream to live in a tropical paradise, Cherie and Vince relocated to Belize in 2004. Despite environmental and cultural hurdles, they built their off-grid dream home and founded the country's first crocodile research facility, ACES ~ American Crocodile Education Sanctuary. Living on forty acres in the heart of a mangrove rainforest they learned to embrace the harshness of jungle life amongst jaguars, deadly snakes, flesh-eating bacteria, and crocodiles.

ACES ~ American Crocodile Education Sanctuary was a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving Belize's critical wetland habitats and protected species, specifically Crocodilians, through scientific research and education to preserve wildlife for future generations. Permitted by the Belize Forest Department, ACES rescued crocs country-wide. In 2019, Cherie and Vince passed their croc snares to ACES' protege Chris Summers who has expanded the organization to what is now ACES Wildlife Rescue in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
